Ordering New Tatami

  • STEP.1Consultation and Commision

    Please contact us either by phone* or using the email form. We will confirm what service(s) you require, provide an estimate, and explain futher details about the tatami-making process.
    *Please note that we are only able to provide phone assistance in Japanese.

  • STEP.2Getting an Estimate

    Estimates can be provided through any of the following methods:
    ・Phone call or email
    ・An in-person inspection (free within Kagawa Prefecture)
    ・Video call
    ・Submission of document(s) showing the room's dimensions
    Customers located far away from our locations may incur additional fees and/or shipping costs.

  • STEP.3Schedule Confirmation

    We will confirm the schedule for the crafting of your new tatami.

  • STEP.4Taking Measurements

    We will come to take measurements of the space. At this point we will begin to craft your tatami, and therefore will be unable to accept cancellations.

    How is the size of the tatami determined? Why is it necessary for tatami-makers to measure the room in person? What happens if measurements aren't taken in person?
  • STEP.5Production of the Tatami

    The production of the tatami begins. We can provide video or photo reports of the production's progress to customers who request it.

  • STEP.6Installation of the Tatami

    The newly-crafted tatami will be laid into the space. We craft the tatami so that it will fit without gaps. Laying it perfectly requires a certain amount of skill, so we recommend that you allow our craftsmen to install it.

    How is the finished tatami installed?
  • STEP.7Order Complete

    With the installation of the tatami, your order is complete. Please contact us if you have any questions or concerns in the following days. We will explain maintinence information and provide you with a care booklet at delivery.

Requesting Restoration or Refurbishing

    Customers located far away from our locations may incur additional fees and/or shipping costs.

  • STEP.3Schedule Confirmation

    We will determine whether the work can be done on-site or in-house when deciding the schedule.

    In-House Orders
    We will come pick up the tatami and take it back to our factory for refurbishment/repair. Once completed, it will be delivered to you.

    On-Site Orders
    Depending upon the number of mats, the refurbishment/repairs may be completed quickly. We will require space to work, but the turnaround should be faster than in-house repair orders.

    *Delivery is free to Kagawa locations.

  • STEP.4Restoration & Refurbishment

    We will begin the process of restoring or refurbishing your tatami. For in-house orders, we can provide video or photo reports of the production's progress to customers who request it.

  • STEP.5Installation of the Tatami

    ・Phone call (Japanese only) or email (Japanese or English)
    ・An in-person inspection (requires additional fees for travel expenses)
    ・Video call (Japanese only)
    ・Submission of document(s) showing the room's dimensions
    Please allow 10 days for the reciept of your estimate. Estimates will be given in Japanese yen (JPY).

  • STEP.3Schedule Confirmation

    We will confirm the schedule for measurement and delivery (installation) days. We will also confer with you regarding the schedule and requirements for international shipping at this juncture.

  • STEP.4Schedule Confirmation

    We will take measurements of the space. At this point we will begin to craft your tatami, and therefore will be unable to accept cancellations. It is possible to take the measurements from a document showing the room's dimensions, but we recommend in-person measurements for the best results.

    Depending upon the number of mats, the refurbishment/repairs may be completed quickly. Travel expenses will be limited to one round trip. (Depending upon the volume of work, accomodation expenses may also be assessed.)

    Mail Orders
    The customer will need to mail their tatami to our factory. Once the refurbishment/repairs are completed, we will send it back. The customer will need to install their own tatami in this case.
